PConservation Veritage - Turambe (CVT) is a local non-governmental organization
based in Musanze District, in the Jorthern Province of Rwanda. Established in 0/3:,
CVT is dedicated to environmental conservation, community development, and
promoting a sustainable future for both people and wildlife.
The overall objective of the study is to identify alternatives which will help reduce deforestation and mostly forest degradation in the nyungwe national Park (NNP) over the long-term. To achieve this overall objective, the study had specific objectives namely, (i) confirm and better understand at scale the key drivers of deforestation and forest degradation in NNP and its buffer zone (ii)
identifying alternative feasible sources of livelihoods & sustainable practices for local communities & local economic actors depending on NNP resources and tailored to their needs and practices, as well as the best operational approach to implement such interventions.
Evaluated the existing capacity within the Amayaga region that would support
the effective implantation of the project. The results of this assessment provided
a baseline information on existing capacities with the project area of intervention,
from which other programmes can build on, in order to strengthen institutions and
individuals in the matters of Environment and Climate Change
The objective of this study was to conduct socio-economic pro'les for different
representative households located in the project intervention area with a focus
on the community around the buffer zone of the rivers (Akanyaru and Mwogo)
and natural forest (Kibirizi-Muyira). Such pro'les will be to gather socio-economic
baseline data before interventions which will serve as a benchmark for monitoring
project impact at the end of the project
